Angling Advice: Staying Warm this Predator Season

Summer is over and predator season has officially begun. It might be especially cold by the water in these next few months, but it’s never been easier to stay warm and cosy. We have gathered a great collection of winter boots, fishing hats and thermal base layers that will help keep you warm on the waterfront this Predator season.

Most of our winter clothing, specifically designed for Predator fishing can be found under our Predator Clothing section on our website, however, you will find that Carp Clothes are also designed for long, cold days by the water, so it is well worth having a look there, too.

Base Layer Thermals

The key to staying warm is thermal base layers. They are ideal for popping on under your clothes to really keep the heat in. And the best thing? They can be worn under almost anything.

Check out the Guru Kore Thermal Leggings that are ideal for wearing under your waterproofs, joggers, or any other trousers. You name it and you can probably fit them under.

As well, the Kool Quick Dry Zip Neck Top from Korda is perfect for putting on under your warmer jumpers or hoodies. It even doubles up as a summer top to protect you from the UV rays! We love a two-in-one.

Thermo Fishing Suits

If you fancy going all out, and really putting an effort in to staying warm, then the Thermo suits might be for you.

The Max5 comfort thermo suit from Prologic works to keep your whole body warm and is an essential for long, cold days waiting for a bite from your next predator.

Do I Need a Fishing Jacket?

Without sounding too obvious, fishing jackets should be an essential for every angler all year round. Especially in Britain – you never know what the weather has in store for you.

The Aqua F12 Thermal Jacket not only keeps you warm and dry, but has extra pockets for all of your bait and tackle.

As well, check out the Carp Insulated Gilet. Although designed for Carp fishing, it’s a great piece to have for Predator anglers to pop over a hoodie or a thermal base layer for extra warmth.

Fishing Trousers

Fishing pants are ideal for the colder weather. We recommend a cargo style with extra pockets – these will definitely come in handy for extra accessories and tackle whilst out fishing. From joggers and thermal trousers, to waders, we house a great selection for you to browse through.

These Preston Joggers are not only stylish, but will keep you cosy and warm in the winter months. We would recommend wearing a thermal layer underneath for extra comfort and warmth, especially in the coldest months.

The Aqua F12 Thermal Trousers are also a brilliant piece of clothing and should be an essential to any winter angler. They’re even waterproof, too!

Fishing Hoodies

Not only are hoodies super comfy, but they are also another great layer to add warmth. Whether you’re popping it on for bedtime, under your gilet or wearing it under a thermal jacket, it’s an essential for any angler wanting to hang around during winter.

We have a great array of hoodies on Fishing Republic that you can have a browse of. They're great for keeping the chills out and help you look the part, too!

Fishing Footwear

It’s always important to keep your feet warm. Remember, heat rises! Wearing an old pair of trainers doesn’t quite cut it through the cold months of Predator fishing, so it’s worth investing in a proper pair of boots to see you through.

The Polar Boots by Savage Gear are a great example of a prime piece of footwear for fishing. They work hard protecting your feet from all the elements and keep your toes warm and dry.

Fishing Hats

And now on to the opposite end, it's equally as important to keep your head warm and trap all of the heat in.

The Fox Rage Bobble Hat is a great woolly choice to keep your head warm.

If a beanie is more your style, we have a few to choose from like the Fisherman Beanie from Korda.

Fishing Accessories

There are lots of other bits you can add into your luggage to keep you warm. From gloves, to scarfs to thermal socks, there’s plenty of options.

Gloves are very important as fishing is hands on - there is nothing worse than trying to handle a fish with cold hands. To tackle this problem, we have our Ron Thompson Skinfit Neoprene Gloves that are designed to keep you warm, and still keep that skin feeling, so no sensitivity is lost.

The Fladen Multi Scarf is a great piece to take with you to the water. It keeps your neck warm and can even be pulled over your chin to keep your face from getting chilly. As well, the camo pattern really makes you look the part.
